high speed DESCRIPTION with LIFT
A disperser is a single shaft mixer used to crumble or dissolve solid particles in a liquid. IT is accomplished using a "sawtooth" disc that rotates at high speed approximately 3000rpm. The cowles disc imparts high shear forces to the dispersing ingredients, crushing them. Through proper disc sizing and selection, a flow can be established that will rotate the batch repeatedly and provide a homogeneous product. Dispersers are most often used to mix low-viscosity products like paints.
Variable speed mixing shaft dispersers are available.
Some are tank-mounted and fixed to operate with the disc placed only in the original mounting position. Other tank-mounted dispersers can raise and lower the disk several feet (to better control the vortex) without leaving the tank. Another design, perhaps the most popular, places the disperser on a hydraulic jack that is mounted on the floor. The jack allows the operator to raise the disc completely out of the mixing container and change it to another container. This technique uses small portable tanks (up to 500 gallons) that can be wheeled or lifted with a forklift. The largest stationary tanks are often centered within the arc of rotation from the center of lifting to the center of the mixer shaft. The bridge containing the mixer shaft at one end and the motor at the other is then rotated from one tank to the next. Choosing the best available design configuration is a combination of functional necessity and economic justification
